2021

The Government have now published new draft Regulations intended to extend existing relaxations in respect of Pavement Cafes, upon which we have previously reported.

The Business and Planning Act 2020 (Pavement Licences) (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2021

The Business and Planning Act 2020 allowed created an expedited route for businesses to secure Pavement Licences cheaply. The Act also provided businesses with an automatic entitlement (subject to restrictions) to sell alcohol for consumption in these areas, if they held a premises Licence authorising the sale of alcohol

The relaxations were initially intended to lapse in September 2021, but have now been extended by the above Regulations to 30th September 2022.

Clients who hold licences issued under this provision will not be automatically extended and further applications may be required to extend coverage to 2022. If you have any queries, contact one of our Solicitors.
