Gambling: Gambling Commission to Appeal Greene King Decision?

19 Dec
2014

Earlier this month we reported that Greene King had been successful in their appeal against the refusal by the Gambling Commission for an Operating Licence to authorise Bingo and consequently higher jackpot Gaming Machines (see 'Greene King Rule the Day on Bingo Application')

However, the Gambling Commission has now announced that it is "seeking permission" to appeal the First-Tier Tribunals decision to prevent commercial gambling taking place in pubs. The Commission has claimed that the ruling "appears to handicap the Commission in doing what it was set up to do - that is, react to new developments and protect the vulnerable."

We shall keep you apprised of developments.
