Personal licences renewal arrangements - non progress?

06 Feb
2015

We have previously reported that scrutiny by the House of Lords of the De-regulation Bill was due to take place on 3 February.

This was of interest because within the Bill is the required legislation to remove the requirement to renew personal licences at the end of the ten year period.  The relevant Committee sat on both 3 and 5 February but has yet to consider or comment (if they are minded to) on these proposals.  The Committee is next due to debate the provisions of the Bill on 11 February.

To complete its progress and come into law and be effective, the Bill (in its entirety) has to complete the Report stage, have its Third Reading in the Lords and there then needs to be House of Commons consideration of any Lords amendments.  We will keep you updated.

With some personal licences falling imminently for renewal, arrangements need to be in place to effect those renewals, as currently required.  Renewal applications must be made not more than 3 nor less than 1 month from the renewal date.

Law correct at the date of publication.
