Following Transport for London’s (TfL) decision not to renew Ubers private hire Operator on 22nd September, Uber have now lodged Appeal papers with the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in accordance with the terms of the legislation.

The original decision is therefore suspended and Uber may continue to trade under the terms of their previous licence until such time as the legal Appeal process is exhausted.  This will come as good news for the 3.5 million Londoners that reportedly using the service and the 40,000+ licensed drivers who rely on Uber to make a living.

An initial hearing to manage the case and set a timetable for a final hearing will take place in December.

The Appeal itself is unlikely to be heard until the New Year.
