The proposed Pedicab (London) Bill progresses through Parliament

A proposed Bill (the Pedicab (London) Bill which was announced in the Kings Speech reaches reports stage in the House of Lords.

The purpose of the Bill is to regulate the London pedicab (also referred to as ‘cycle rickshaw’) industry.

In the Kings Speech, it was said,

"On pedicabs in London, the intention is that 'The Pedicabs (London) Bill will give Transport for London powers to regulate London’s pedicab industry so that passengers, pedestrians and other road users go about their lives safe in the knowledge these vehicles and their operators are properly licensed and accountable."

On the 11 December 2023, the Bill passed the committee stage and is now awaiting a date to progress to the reports stage where the Bill will undergo "close" scrutiny.
