Scotland - Edinburgh Consult on Sexual Entertainment Venues.

26 Jul
2019

Earlier this month Edinburgh City Council launched  a public consultation regarding Sexual Entertainment Venues in the city and how they will be regulated in the future.

This follows the Scottish Government introducing legislation which allows councils to licence ‘Sexual Entertainment Venues’ (SEVs).  Similar legislation introduced several years ago in England & Wales.

The Edinburgh consultation will run until 17th August.  The consultation survey,  which can be found here, is seeking views on whether the Council should adopt these powers; and to gain a broader understanding of community views on the potential shape of a licensing system for Sexual Entertainment Venues, if it was introduced.

The legislation, if adopted, could lead to a cap on the number of SEV venues operating in the city.
