Scotland - Edinburgh Consult on New Policy and Overprovision

23 Aug
2018

Edinburgh have now commenced a public consultation regarding their new Statement of Licensing Policy which will run from November 2018 to 2022, when it will be required to be reviewed again under the terms of the current legislation.  As well as seeking general feedback, the Board have posed 5 specific questions regarding the new Policy on issues such as children access, live music, and licensing hours.

As part of this process, the Board is also consulting on overprovision of licensed premises in a number of localities throughout the city, which is contained within a separate consultation.  The consultation divides the city into 23 districts and poses the question “whether all or any of these localities should be included in the policy as areas of overprovision for all licensed premises or particular types of premises”.

The consultations will close on 1st October 2018, with results expected by 30th November.
