Scotland - Consultation on updating the Licensing (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2007

15 Mar
2018

Due to previous concerns raised about a lack of public participation in the licensing process, the Scottish Government has launched a consultation on updating the Licensing (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2007 seeking views on whether the Regulations can be amended to improve community engagement.

Views are particularly sought on Regulations 3,4,6,7,8,9 and 18 which deal with neighbour notifications, more specifically:

  • meaning of “notifiable interest”;
  • meaning of “neighbouring land”;
  • publicity to applications;
  • display of notice;
  • periods for board to notify applications;
  • documents to accompany notice of premises licence application; and
  • occasional licences.

However, feedback will be accepted from respondents on other sections of the Regulations as well.

Responses to the consultation should be made using the Scottish Government’s consultation platform, Citizen Space – you can follow this link

Alternatively, responses can be submitted along with a completed Respondent Information Form to Licensing.Consultation@gov.scot

The consultation closes on 6 June 2018.
