Mexico -v- England - Monday 6th July - Licensing Act 2003 (FIFA World Cup Licensing Hours) (Amendment) Order 2026

Following our recent article reporting the Government’s plan to extend hours for upcoming World Cup game on 6th July between Mexico -v- England, the Government have now created the necessary Statutory Instrument (SI) (‘Licensing Act 2003 (FIFA World Cup Licensing Hours) (Amendment) Order 2026’).

As previously reported the Government had already granted general extensions for games kicking off between 5 pm – 10 pm, but this did not include the game on 6th July, which kicks off at 1 am (Monday July 6th).

The above extensions were facilitated by the SI Licensing Act 2003 (FIFA World Cup Licensing Hours) Order 2026.

The new Statutory Instrument amends the former SI and permits premises already licensed to 10 pm on Sunday 5th July, to remain open until 5 am on Monday 6th July.
