Liverpool chose to adopt Late Night Levy

Liverpool City Council have revisited the adoption of the Late Night Levy, which had been rejected in March of this year. On this occasion the vote was in favour of adoption for premises operating beyond 12 midnight. The Levy is to commence in April.

The adopted Levy contained significant revisions to that previously tabled, in particular an exemption for those premises in the Business Improvement District which already contribute towards town centre initiatives. The exemption also extends to premises with overnight accommodation, theatres, cinemas, bingo halls and village pubs .

At present we have no detail as to when the applications can be made to reduce hours by virtue of the fee free Minor Variation and thereby secure exclusion from the Levy. Once more detail is available we will update.
