Licensing Fees - Review

22 Nov
2022

At the IoL Conference last week, Government Officials confirmed that they planned to start the collection of evidence in respect of Licensing Fees payable under the Licensing Act 2003.

As with any consultation or similar exercise, the Government has not reached any conclusion prior to the completion of their consultations.

It is understood that the first step will involve a call for evidence from Local Authorities regarding the current regime and the actual costs of implementing the same.  This is expected to take place in early 2023 followed by a full public consultation towards the end of 2023 (presumably if deemed necessary).

The Government acknowledged that this was not the time to launch a full consultation or propose fee increases, presumably a reflection of the current difficult economic conditions.

Law correct at the date of publication.
