LGA guidance note on drink spiking prevention

22 Sep
2022

The LGA has recently published a note on drink spiking prevention.

The note includes recommendations for both Licensing Authorities and Premises alike citing a number of good practices.

A case study cited in the note from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council references a case one of our Partners, Michelle Hazelwood, was involved with.

This example demonstrates the premises’ proactive response to the issue and positive engagement with the Responsible Authorities working to resolve the perceived issue.

Michelle Hazelwood commented:

“Spiking however became a significant concern for many well-run venues during the late Autumn / Winter of 2021.  The Premises cited in this example adopted the best possible practices and the Sub-Committee could differentiate the premises from the perpetrators of alleged Spikings. A Partnership approach is the only way to tackle this issue.”

Law correct at the date of publication.
