Later licensing hours confirmed for Women’s Euro semis and final if England or Wales get through
2025
The Government has confirmed Licensing hours will be extended to 1 am if England or Wales reach the semi-finals or final of the UEFA Women’s European Championships this summer.
This is following the publication of the outcome of the recent consultation [click here] which ran from 23 February to 23 March.
Details of the extension are to follow but in essence it will mean that premises can sell alcohol until 1 am on the relevant days providing an extended opportunity for fans to celebrate.
After recently hosting Eurovision this past weekend, Switzerland will also be the hosts for this tournament starting on 2nd July with the semi-finals being held on 22nd and 23rd July and the final on 27th July.
Michael Kill, Night Time Industries Association Chief Executive, described the extended hours as “a positive and progressive move that recognises the growing popularity of women’s football and its cultural significance across the UK”.
We will provide an update once the full details of the extension are known.
