Home Office - Violence and abuse toward shop staff: call for evidence

05 May
2019

The Home Office recently opened a consultation regarding violence and abuse toward shop (retail) staff.

The call for evidence which will be open until 11pm on 28th June 2019 aims to collect evidence in order to enable the government to understand the true scale of the issue of violence and abuse towards retail staff, perpetrated by members of the public; the measures which may help prevent these crimes and the extent to which existing legislation is being used to tackle them, and to identify examples of best practice.

Although the Home Office are focusing on retail, other than Hospitality, the Home Office will seek to consider how the findings may be relevant to other sectors (including hospitality).

Readers with experience in the retail sector, e.g. off-sale or grocery stores, are people the Home Office want to hear from.

Law correct at the date of publication.
