It is refreshing to hear about some good news for the live music sector where sites are known to be closing. As part of the UK government’s Creative Industries sector vision which is administered by the Arts Council the Government has announced support for grassroots music venues.

There will be grants of up to £40,000  to fund rehearsal spaces, recording studios, festivals, venues and promoters.

Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) have confirmed that the fund will be £5 million in total with applications for grants up to £40,000 available until March 2025.

The funds are not totally new concept being an evolution of Arts Council England’s Supporting Grassroots Live Music funding but expands the range of eligible applicants to include rehearsal and recording studios and festivals, in addition to grassroots live music venues, venues for electronic music (including clubs and other “club-like” events), and independent promoters.
