Gambling - Gambling advertising: regulation in Great Britain - Commons Briefing Paper

2018

We keep a close eye on relevant Briefing Papers published by the House of Commons Library, which we believe would be of interest to our sector.

We have previously highlighted the Library’s briefing paper on “Gambling advertising: regulation in the Great Britain”.  The briefing paper was amended and republished on 4th July to include the Government’s response to the consultation on changes to gaming machine and social responsibility measures which was announced in May.

Amongst other things, the Government announced plans to reduce stake on fixed odd betting terminals (B2 gaming machines / FOBT’s) from £100 to £2.

Recent newspaper reports suggest that the reduction itself may be delayed until 2020.

Law correct at the date of publication.
