Gambling – Competition and Markets Authority Investigation Update

Following their long running investigation (launched in October 2016) regarding online gambling terms and conditions the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have announced that undertakings have been received from 3 of the largest online operators in the UK,  Ladbrokes, William Hill, and PT Entertainment.

The firms have agreed to be more upfront and clear about their promotional terms and conditions, and to make them fairer.  This follows the CMA findings that players were disadvantaged by sometimes opaque  Players can now be sure that they can withdraw their own money when they play as part of a bonus promotion.

As part of their announcement the CMA have published a number of pieces of advice including a “do’s and don’t” guide for online gambling firms, which can be found here.
