Covid 19 - What you need to know -Takeaway Food - Additional Controls

23 Mar
2020

As previously reported the Government introduced on Saturday regulations compelling many premises to close including pubs, restaurants and cafes.

It is important to note that those regulations distinguish between on and off sales.  Pubs, cafes and restaurants can continue to operate on a purely off-sale basis, although physical distancing must be considered in every instance.

The Government are indeed encouraging effected businesses to re-tool as delivery or takeaway business.

If you are thinking of diversifying your food business by providing a take-away option, deliveries, or pre-made meals that consumers can reheat from home, you may need to change the way you work. You might need to put in additional controls, or provide additional advice to your customers.

We would recommend that you consult your Environmental Health Service (local authority) who will be more than happy to provide you with advice during these difficult times to protect your customers.

You can also get useful information on line from the Food Standards Agency see takeaway / delivery advice.
