Covid 19 - Scotland Beyond Level 0

04 Aug
2021

The First Minister announced yesterday the move to Beyond Level 0 on the 9th August.

The First Minister confirmed that the move Beyond Level 0 will mean that the legal requirement for physical distancing and limits to the size of social gatherings will be removed.

All venues can open which we understand includes nightclubs.

However, there will be some ongoing restrictions:-

  • It will continue to be the law, subject to existing exemptions, that face coverings must be worn in all the same indoor settings as is the case now.
  • Test & Protect will continue to contact-trace positive cases. There will be an ongoing requirement for indoor hospitality and similar venues to collect the contact details of customers.
  • Travel restrictions will continue.
  • People will continue to be advised to work from home where possible.
  • Organisers of large events must apply for permission.
  • Restrictions remain in schools for the first six weeks of the new term, including 1m physical distancing.

There are still questions on how the Beyond 0 Level will operate and updated Guidance is to be issued which will be found here: https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-tourism-and-hospitality-sector-guidance/pages/hospitality-statutory-guidance/#full-history

Hopefully the requirements on nightclubs and large events will not prohibit future activities by operators.

Law correct at the date of publication.
