Covid 19 - Nightclubs open in Wales

Wales can again, reach for the lasers!

As of today, Wales will more to alert level Zero, meaning that many of the Omicron variant restrictions that were imposed on the 26 December 2021 have now been scrapped.

As of today Welsh people can:

  • Attend nightclubs;
  • Attend pubs and restaurants in greater numbers than 6 and make purchases from the bar;
  • Face masks no longer required in cafes, pubs, restaurants and nightclubs;
  • No longer legally required to work from home;
  • No longer required to socially distance at work (but businesses will still be required to make a coronavirus risk assessment)

Whilst the above restrictions have been lifted, the following will still apply;

  • People are required to self-isolate for a minimum of 5 days if they test positive for Covid;
  • Face masks still required in public spaces, including shops;
  • Face masks still required in schools until February half term;
  • Covid passes are still required for nightclubs, large indoor events, concert halls, cinemas and theatre visits.

The next formal review of Covid-19 rules will be held by Welsh ministers by the 10 February 2022.
