Covid 19 - New Lockdown Regulations Published

Following the Prime Ministers announcement on Monday evening, the Regulations bringing into law the new lockdown have been published and come into force today.

A copy of the Regulations can be found here. These regulations amend the existing Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020.

The current restrictions will expire on 31st March unless withdrawn, amended or extended prior to that date.

Government guidance has also been updated to reflect the new ‘Stay at Home’ message and can be found here.

All pubs are now closed in England and the sale of alcohol is limited to pre-ordered (by telephone/text/online or post) delivery only.

Food and drink (but not alcohol) may be sold for consumption off the premises between 5am and 11pm daily and between 11pm and 5am only if pre-ordered via a remote means specified below:

  • through a website, or otherwise by online communication,
  • by telephone, including orders by text message, or
  • by post;

In light of the new restrictions Businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors are to receive a one-off grant worth up to £9,000, the Chancellor has announced.
