Camden Late Night Levy re-consultation launched

13 Oct
2015

Following on from our news of the imminent re-launch of this consultation this consultation has today been launched.

The consultation runs to Monday 9 November 2015.

To respond to the consultation, there is an on-line form which can be found here.  What however is not so helpful is that as we see it, the detail of what is proposed and what they are consulting on, is only available by completing the on-line questionnaire, question by question.

However we can confirm:

  • That the Levy should apply to all premises authorised for the sale of alcohol between 12.00mn and 6.00am.
  • The only exemption would be for New Year’s Eve trading.
  • Whether to grant a 30% reduction for premises participating in BIDs and the like and a similar reduction for premises in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief.
  • No exemptions will be proposed for other categories of premises that might be exempt – and particularly including premises with overnight accommodation
  • If approved, Camden are proposing to introduce the late night levy on 25 April 2016

Following the conclusion of this consultation a report will be prepared for consideration by the Licensing Committee on 18 November 2015.

NB - It is most important that operators who responded to the original consultation do so again, as previous responses are most unlikely to be ‘carried forward’.

Law correct at the date of publication.
