TIM WARD joined John Gaunt & Partners in 2004. He brings to the firm additional expertise with his background as a specialist in Civil Litigation and negligence which was developed in the Leeds area. Tim has considerable experience in licensing matters, and oversaw the firm’s general licensing practice during the transitional period of the Licensing Act 2003.
Since the new Licensing Act became operational, Tim has focused his attentions on the auditing of premises licence and has a detailed knowledge of the types of errors which appear on premises licences issued after transitional applications. As a result, he has developed a certain expertise in embedded restrictions and grandfathered rights.
Tim can also advise all licensing matters including, new licence applications, extensions of trading hours and variation applications prior to structural alternations of licensed premises, in addition to advising on the implementation of the smoking ban and its effect on licensing, planning matters and the trade in general.
Tim has defended applications for closure orders under anti social behaviour legislation. He also deals with applications for possession of land and possession proceedings from both a landlord and tenant point of view.
You will see Tim on the end of a hockey stick most weekends, and during the week if you ask Tim nicely he will show you the scars from the receiving end of said stick.
