TIM SHIELD has been a partner at the firm since November 2000, having joined the firm as an Associate Partner in April 1999. Tim was previously based in Hull working for a large regional firm and his area of practice was commercial litigation and licensing since qualifying as a solicitor in 1992.
Tim’s extensive experience in licensing and adversarial edge has proved invaluable in a wide variety of contentious licensing applications, including most recently applications under anti social behaviour legislation, and review applications. Tim’s area of interest under the previous legislation was the licensing of late night venues, and entertainment led premises.
During the licensing reform period Tim was instructed by a number of national hotel operators to oversee the re-licensing of their accommodation based operations, as well as a number of pub companies and late night operators with very individual licensing requirements.
Tim heads up the training division of the firm providing specialist training to the licensed trade and in particular leading to the NCPLH qualification of which he has personal experience being a personal licence holder.
Tim’s spare time is divided between the football field, the ski slopes and the ballet field. At the first you will find him either playing or cheering-on his son’s team, at the second you will not find him unless you are very quick or you have just collided with him (his technique is not that good!), and at the ballet he is fortunately a spectator while his daughter participates.
Michelle Kaye works with Tim as his secretary, and both can be contacted on 0114 2296702.
