DAVID HOLLIS is an Associate Partner of the firm, and the firm’s resident regulatory offences specialist. David comes from an extensive background in criminal defence advocacy, joining John Gaunt and Partners in 2000 after time with a firm in Doncaster.

David’s detailed knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003 and his attention to the very technical aspects of The Licensing Act and its Regulations stand him in extremely good stead representing clients facing potential prosecutions for breaches of licence conditions, Trading Standards legislation and similar regulatory offences. David is well respected for his work in this area.

David was heavily involved on the firm’s working panel of solicitors on the 2003 Act, prior to its introduction, and co-ordinated the firm’s involvement in reviewing many Licensing Authority Draft Statements of Licensing Policy on behalf of the British Beer and Pub Association. He re-licensed one of our corporate client’s tenanted estates. More recently David has focused his energies on the licensing of multiple occupancy residential tenancy properties, following new legislation in this area.

David’s keen interest in rugby is from the stands now, but David’s even keener interest in fine food and wine makes him an extremely useful source of national restaurant recommendations and recipes for the preparation of exotic and rare delicacies. David and his wife are to be found rambling in Yorkshire Countryside, or at little known produce markets throughout the county.

Elaine Ibbotson is David’s assistant, and they can be contacted on 0114 229 6704
