JOHN GAUNT is one of the UK’s leading Licensing Solicitor Advocates. John’s lengthy experience and significant expertise in all aspects of licensing, and his astute advice and business acumen, means John is highly respected within this field. As a founding Partner of the firm in 1995, John boasts a significant history with the licensed trade and some long associations with key liquor retail operators in England.
In the lead up to the Licensing Act 2003, John made a significant number of submissions to Ministers, Government departments, Responsible Authorities and members of the trade prior to, during and following the transitional period, and has earned a reputation as someone with a detailed knowledge of the workings of this new legislation.
John is often instructed by other law firms to assist with licensing due diligence enquiries on behalf of their clients.
John has written articles for trade magazines and the regional press, and his ability to impart knowledge to any target audience means that he regularly gives seminars to clients, organisations and those within the trade on all aspects of licensing.
John’s approach to the law includes a customer focused commitment to service, blended with an approachable, down to earth problem solving ability.
He is an Associate Member of the BII, the holder of the NCPLH qualification and a personal licence, and a member of the BISL. Given John’s numerous commitments, in his spare time you will probably find him travelling the country returning from another meeting, or on visits to members of his family. John is a staunch supporter of Sheffield and the South Yorkshire region.
Carren Mather is John’s assistant, and Carren and John can be reached on 0114 2296700.
