1. HMG finally publish most of the outstanding regulations
for reform (Continued)
The specific requirements for plans are onerous and the DCMS appears
to have ignored all the representations which they have received
in respect of them. We will advise on shortcuts which might be
able to be utilised if required. Please contact us about this.
We have devised a formula to calculate, within Excel, the fees
payable per premise under the current fee proposal on a volume
basis. If you would like this and it may be of assistance, please
let us know.
The application for variation must be served on the responsible
Authorities, previously identified but that list now includes
the local Weights and Measures Authority but not the Crime and
Disorder Partnerships nor the local Mayor (as originally proposed).
Another area where the representations appear to have been ignored
relate to the public Notice of any Application for Variation.
No form of notice is prescribed although the contents of it (which
are many) are specified. Any New Licence Application (outside
Transition) and every Variation Application must be advertised:-
(a)For a period of no less than twenty eight consecutive days
starting on the day after the day the application was given to
the relevant Authority, displaying a notice of size equal to or
larger than A4 of a pale blue colour, printing legibly in black
ink or typed in black in a font of a size equal to or larger than
sixteen prominently at or on the premises where it can be conveniently
read from the exterior of the premises.
