Extension of Trading Hours Over Festive Season- Temporary Event Notices

October 2007

The Christmas and New Year Season is fast approaching.  Licensees need to consider whether their licensed hours meet their requirements over this period.  As before, although many Licences do benefit from a de-regulated New Year's Eve permitting opening through to the usual terminal hour on New Year’s Day, this does not apply to all Licences.

If a Temporary Event Notice (‘TEN’) is required to extend any hours, all such TEN's must be lodged on no less than 10 working days notice.  So, for example, if extensions are required from 21st December onwards, applications for the 21st December must be submitted and received by the Council by Thursday, 6th December (instructions to us by Tuesday, 4th December and earlier if possible).

We can deal with any applications you require over the seasonal period.

It may be of interest to certain premises that the WBC Welterweight Fight between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Merryweather is to take place on December 8th in Las Vegas.  The fight is expected to start at 2.00 am GMT on the morning of 9th December and go on until 4.00 am / 5.00 am.  The hype suggests that this is one of the most anticipated bouts for a long time.

If a TEN is required for the event on 8th December, the paperwork must be received by the Council by Friday 30th November and therefore instructions to us by Wednesday 28th  November.

Should you have any queries or wish us to seek any TEN's on your behalf, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
