May not be given intoxicants except for medicinal

Although there may be a counter or servery in a restaurant giving
the appearance of a "bar", in law there is no bar in
such premises .
Employment
The general rule is that no person under 18 years may be employed
in a bar of licensed premises during permitted hours, whether
for payment or not, and including children of the Licensee.
According to the De-Regulation (Employment in Bars) Order 1997,
Licensees are able to employ 16 and 17 year olds in bars of licensed
premises provided only that they are employed as part of an approved
training scheme.
(For a definition of "approved training scheme" refer
to a new Section 170A of the Licensing Act which includes consideration
of quality of training and supervision of trainees and the duties
of supervisors).
Any person who allows, causes or procures any breach of the above
will commit an offence."Bar"
"Bar" is defined as any place exclusively or mainly
used for the sale and consumption of intoxicating liquor (but
not when exclusively set aside for the service of table meals
and the supply of liquor is confined to persons having table meals
there).
