Edinburgh Licensing Policy - Update
29 April 2010
The policy of the Edinburgh Licensing Board, as set out in their Policy Statement of 26th November 2007, is that the opening hour for premises should be 10.00 am for off-sales (as is the Scottish Law) but for on-sales, 09.00 am seven days a week.
At a hearing of the Edinburgh Board, which we attended on Monday, they appeared to amend this Policy so as to re-trench to 12.30 pm as an opening time for on-sales on Sundays.
Operating plans were amended by the Board on all the applications which we witnessed, to restrict Sunday opening to 12.30 pm from whatever had been applied for, save in respect of our own successful application which was for a new hotel within the Edinburgh Park redevelopment area and where the opening hour within our application was indicated to be 10.00 am.
The Scottish Beer and Pub Association is said to have called the change "disappointing".
