Mandatory conditions - further update and some possible delay!

The first tranche of the proposed new mandatory conditions are or were to come into effect on 6 April.  It would now appear that the ‘jury is out’!

The House of Lords deferred consideration of the mandatory conditions last Tuesday and as they require positive affirmation by both Houses of Parliament to come into effect, their introduction would now appear to be dependant on the HoL finding parliamentary time for their further consideration in the limited time available and then the regulations receiving the required approval.

Some uncertainty all round; watch this space!

Update - (10th March 2010) - It is now understood that the HoL are due to debate the proposed conditions on Monday 15th March 2010.
