Scotland - just 40 days to go!

22 August 2011

A further reminder – if it is needed - that on 1 October 2011:

  • Challenge 25 becomes mandatory for all licensed premises in Scotland.  Clearly this change needs to be briefed out to premises, with the introduction of new Challenge 25 signage and staff will need to be trained and be seen to have been trained in this new requirement
  • Premises in Scotland wishing to sell or continue to sell tobacco need to be registered – otherwise an offence will be committed. See http://bit.ly/m7HQL0
  • Other licensing changes come into effect which principally but not exclusively affect off sales – see http://bit.ly/q2XLu3

What is not yet to come into effect on 1 October 2011 in Scotland, unlike in England and Wales, is the ban on tobacco vending machines, where the introduction of the prohibition on the use of such machines has apparently been delayed.
