Most licensees are aware of the NCPLH (National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders) as this is the qualification required to obtain a Personal Licence and therefore be the Designated Premises Supervisor of a site selling alcohol. This course is provided by the BII who produce a plethora of other courses which you, or your staff, could undertake. These range from the obviously helpful NCPLH and Scottish equivalent SCPLH, through to an Award in Jersey Licensing Law and an Award for Music Promoters. The thing is, what do you as operators achieve from expending the money and the time of the course on yourself, or with your staff?
The first benefit has to be that you equip and empower your team with knowledge, which enhances your business ability and hopefully profitability.
The second benefit is that in this time of increased enforcement and policing of licensed premises, the fact that you and your staff are trained over and above the basic standard, can be used to illustrate, by way of the formal qualifications, your due diligence. This will significantly assist you in the event of any prosecution or review. Indeed, a bespoke course designed to your particular needs may be even more beneficial in that it would target any weakness which has been identified and provide evidence to the enforcement bodies of a pro-active approach being adopted by yourselves.
We are accredited trainers for BII courses. These can be provided to you and your staff at our office training suite in Sheffield, or alternatively at your own venue. We also regularly provide bespoke training to companies and operators when particular issues have arisen with a view to improving the skill base of the individuals relating to that aspect of their work.
If you wish to enhance the training provided to your staff, please do not hesitate to contact us with regard to either BII qualifications or alternatively training to deal with any particular concern you may have.
