John Gaunt & Partners was founded in 1995 when partners John Gaunt and Kate Redford identified the need for a niche alcohol and entertainment licensing Practice to better meet the needs of their clients.

Based in Sheffield but operating nationally, we have clients throughout England and Wales, and do not see distance as a barrier to providing exceptional licensing advice and services.

We have an unusual and varied client base, from some of the country’s largest pub companies, Plcs, breweries and licensed retailers, to fledgling businesses, convenience stores and local late night takeaway outlets. Our work is diverse and our team has a collective wealth of experience to share with our clients.

We specialise in bespoke licensing applications, and practical, straightforward advice. If there is a way of doing it, we will find it, with a minimum of fuss and as cost effectively as we can.

In keeping with our holistic approach to licensing, we offer legal advice and support, training for personal licence applicants, seminars to the trade, and local authorities, representation for those facing prosecution and regulatory investigations, specialist licensing advice to other law firms and professionals, and commercial and litigation legal services in licensing related fields.
